What is the Louisiana Recovery Authority?
The Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) is the planning and coordinating body that is assisting in implementing the Governor's vision for the recovery of Louisiana.
The LRA Board of Directors of the recovery effort assists the Governor in providing the vision, creativity, and leadership to identify, prioritize, and address the short- and long-term issues of recovery. The board recommends policy, planning and resource allocation affecting programs and services for the recovery and identifies duplication of services relative to the recovery where appropriate.

What does the authority do?
The authority is working with Governor Jindal to plan for Louisiana's future, coordinate across jurisdictions, support community recovery and resurgence and ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the recovery process.
LRA Functions, Powers and Duties
- Lead effort to prepare a locally-driven plan for the redevelopment of Louisiana
- Provide a single voice for the State on disaster-related issues and activities
- Coordinate State agencies and others to advance the recovery and rebuilding
- Focus major policy, regulatory, and legislative change to meet disaster needs
- Secure resources and prioritize and guide expenditure of funding for the redevelopment
How will the authority accomplish these goals?
The authority is addressing short-term recovery needs while simultaneously guiding the long-term planning process. Recovery Teams are addressing short-term high priority needs, which require immediate action. Simultaneously, Task Forces are addressing long-term planning, which requires parish-driven community planning..
Does the authority work with other recovery related initiatives/ agencies?
The authority is working in partnership with local, state and federal interests to accomplish the goals of recovery.

- Ongoing opportunities for citizen input into the process
The authority is also working in partnership with various non-profit agencies to support humanitarian recovery related efforts. These partnerships include:
- Louisiana Family Recovery Corps (LRFC), an independent non-profit organization coordinating and delivering services to displaced Louisianians (www.recoverycorps.org)
- The Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation, a non-profit foundation which collects and provides funding for LFRC to assist citizens in need through a network of Louisiana charities, non-profit and governmental agencies (www.louisianahelp.org)
- Operation Hope, America's first nonprofit social investment bank and a national provider of financial literacy and economic empowerment programs (www.operationhope.org)
